This series of individually handcrafted dolls in 100% cotton have hand-painted faces and skin tones that are specific to their various ethnicities. The costume worn by each woman leader has been researched for historical accuracy by Professor and Costume Historian Aziza Bey. As a doctoral candidate, she began researching the connectives of cultures from Africa and the Americas. Determined to create a curriculum for grade school students that reflected the contribution of cultures traditionally omitted from the school curriculum, she began looking for teaching tools that would help build self-esteem in young people.

Young girls have been taught about few women from the past, and by empowering them with the knowledge of the contributions women made in creating world civilizations, young girls can broaden their insights as they think about what and how they will "be" in the future. This also helps young boys gain implicit respect for the capabilities of women.

Each of these limited edition dolls is twenty inches tall, handcrafted, signed and numbered. Each Great Women Leaders Doll comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
